Overview

Grain Weevil is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Engineering Technician position based out of the Omaha, NE area. We are looking for a highly driven individual who will support the mechanical and electrical engineering teams, coordinate product field testing, and support our growing BinAssist Service Provider network. In addition to supporting product field testing and support initiatives, we are looking for a candidate who is willing to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders in a professional and friendly manner, communicate with engineering and product teams ensuring accurate understanding of the testing results or field issues, and support the BinAssist Network with field issues that may arise during the grain storage season.

Responsibilities

Assembly and Installation:

  • Assemble and install robotic systems and components.
  • Set up robots for specific tasks, including configuring software and calibrating equipment.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct tests to ensure that robotic systems function correctly.
  • Identify, diagnose, and fix any technical issues or malfunctions in robots.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on robotic systems.

Operation and Monitoring:

  • Operate robotic systems during production processes.
  • Monitor robot performance and make adjustments to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and testing activities.
  • Document any changes or updates made to the robotic systems.
  • Prepare reports on system performance and issues encountered.
  • Review product documentation including schematics, designs and bill of materials (BOM).

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that robotic systems comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Implement safety protocols and conduct safety inspections of robotic systems.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with robotics engineers and other team members to develop and improve robotic systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and other technicians.
  • Assist in the design and prototyping of new robotic systems or components.

Upgrading and Innovation:

  • Assist in upgrading existing robotic systems with new technologies.
  • Participate in the research and development of new robotic applications and solutions.  

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher education in an engineering or science related field and/or 2+ years of relevant work experience in an engineering or field technician position.
  • Hands-on experience with technical skills such as mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and repairs etc.
  • Experience developing technical ideas from concept through production.
  • Experience implementing performance requirements and standard operating procedures for complex systems with engineer guided input.

Highly Qualified Candidates

  • Experience in Mechatronics, Robotics, Ag Engineering, Agri-business or other related fields.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Fusion360 or similar CAD programs.
  • Current knowledge of agriculture industry, including ag tech integration.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary:

  • $80,000.00 per year
  • Board approved salary targets with raises based on individual merit and team milestones

  • Standing at assembly stations and work benches
  • High physical demands of on-site work at grain bins includes climbing, lifting, and other strenuous tasks
